Notes on the GPITM Screw Thread Finishes
The Glass Packaging InstituteTM (GPI)TM is the body of member manufacturers that establishes and issues uniform standards for the design and specification of finishes used by American glass manufacturers.
The GPITM standards replace the “GCMI” (Glass Container Manufacturers Institute) standards.
When a cap is referred to as a “15-425”, it means that the diameter across the opening is approximately 15 millimeters, see “T” dimension on illustration below. The “425” designates a specific style, which includes thread geometry and height of the closure.

8-425 Screw Thread Finishes | The 8-425 Screw Thread Finish is a standard screw thread finishes as outlined by GPITM. The threads run down to the shoulder of the vial. The 8-425 Screw Thread Finish has a Standard Opening. | |
9 mm Screw Thread | The 9 mm Short Screw Thread finish is designed for use with robotic arm autosamplers. The threads do not run down to the shoulder of the vial. The 9 mm Screw Thread has a Large Opening. | |
